Where to place purple highlights on blonde hair?

I have blonde, just about shoulder length hair and want to dye my hair purple. I don't really know where to dye it though, it's layered and i have a side fringe.

Any ideas?

1.Dye the 2 strips of hair closet to your face purple

or

2.Dye the ends of all of it.

It would look really cool if you did strips of colour in the fringe. Or dye the underneath of your hair in strips so it just shows through your hair =D

i would be careful using bold colors, if you don't like it,it is very difficult to change it back. if you want to use it as a bold high light on the sides maybe a single piece. look at avril lavigne for an example. she has some pink highlights
