Is it possible to use the cap when doing (at home) highlights on LONG hair?

I've been looking at the Revlon Frost and Glow kit for medium to dark brown hair. I used this once and liked the results, but I remember pulling my hair through that cap was almost impossible for me with my long hair. I gave up and applied it with my hands doing chunky highlights rather than small sections. It worked fine, but gave me more of an all over lightening. This time, I just want many thin highlights, so I'd prefer to use the cap. Though, I've read on reviews of this product that the cap shouldn't be used on long hair, and if it's used at all, you should make the holes larger or buy a cap with larger holes, and buy a metal hook instead of the plastic one provided with the kit. So, if I do these things, will the cap be alright for my long (a couple inches past my shoulders) hair?

Yes, you can. When my hair was half-way down my back, I would still use the cap to do them. But, I got one from the beauty supply store (not a cheap plastic one time use one, but, it was more of a rubber material %26amp; also got a metal hook). The rubbery material of the cap allowed me to make the hole a little bit bigger %26amp; would not let the bleach seep into surrounding hair underneath (like it could if you used a plastic cap) It worked great.

This is the one I got:

You can do it, as you said it is hard and sure can pull with long hair. I suggest you go to a salon and have it foiled.

I used to always use a cap for years and she finally talked me into foiling and it is much easier, doesn't matter how long it is...................x

yeah you can. i used a cap on really long hair, right down to my waist, and it was fine, though painful and time consuming lol

its very possible, ive done it. but it tends to be quite painful with long hair because it gets full of tangles.. just be careful around the scalp area. you dont want spots. also, you could try researching websites for doing highlights with foils.. and you could practice with something like cholesterol or something of the sort until youre confident you can do it without a mishap. good luck to you!
